Are you Open or Closed?
  • BY: Chris Molenaar

Are you open minded person?   Most people answer "Of course!" and if you did too I'm sorry to say you are probably not.  Why? Because all of us have a certain amount of personal beliefs, opinions and biases.  Personally I am open minded, but I'm open minded about my close mindedness.

Here are a couple things to recognize and help you open your mind.

Are you a control freak?  When confronted with a new idea, opinion, or thought process, do you immediately thing think or say that you already have it figured out?

Do you avoid change?  Change is inevitable in life, so why are you avoiding it and why aren't you taking control of it?  Taking control of your mindset is a huge step!

Do you feel vulnerability is a scary thing?  Being vulnerable is difficult, but it's a source of power when you let it happen and you let knew ideas, thoughts, and opinions in.

Do you think making mistakes is a bad thing?  You can't learn if you don't make mistakes.  Learning comes from your mistakes and the mistakes of others.  Growing and building is a trial and error process.

You don't know what you don't know.  Strengthening your mind.  The more you know, the more you know how much you don't know.  This is a strong position to be in because you can leverage different ideas, resources and people to choose your path through learning.

Does your ego get in your way?  You need other people to strengthen your mind and grow, so you need to put your ego aside.

Are you confident?  Can you be yourself?  You need to have a strong sense of self so that you can love and accept love.

Honesty is the best policy.  Being able to be honest with yourself is very important.

Being open to your close mindedness is the number one key.  I'd love to dig into this deeper with you, so reach out and send me a message.  I'd love to talk with you!
