Five Foundations for Handling Conflict

Sometimes we, including myself, need a little help handling conflict.  Both at work and at home, the following five foundations can help us all out:

  1. Don't seek out to win the argument, instead find common ground and find a solution.
  2. Stay positive, open minded, and use good body language.
  3. Listen carefully and try to get to know that person, or learn what's really going on.
  4. Ask questions and keep it about them, don't get defensive.
  5. Keep the conversation moving forward.
