What Separates the Elite Performers From the Rest?

Your ability to communicate speaks volumes about your character.

Investing in your learning and your mind is the best investment you can make.  With so many avenues for learning available today, most people are overwhelmed and don't know where to start.  Let me start you off on your learning journey with two simple, yet important things. First, is your language.   Most of us only speak one language and our ability to communicate with others is very important.  It’s the cornerstone to growth and success. Second, is your field of interest.  This not only will help you with the enjoyment and fulfillment aspect of your work, but also with profits.  When you love what you do, you don't work a day in your life.  When this happens you don't have to rely on your willpower alone to learn because it will about something you truly enjoy, love, and are interested in.

It's said that if you read for 15 minutes a day, you will finish 1,000 books in your lifetime.  But what if you have the excuse that you don't have time?   Have you thought about listening to audio?  As more information becomes available on the internet and the easier it becomes to access through social media, the higher the demand is for audio and voice related content and services.  Audio books and podcasts are a great way to consume content on your terms when you don't have time to sit and read.

HOW TO READ A BOOK, by Mortimer J. Adler, is a great read and I highly recommend it.  Most people think you have to read a book cover to cover - it's common knowledge right?  There are several different ways laid out in Adler's book including skimming the book looking for points of interest, for pure entertainment, or - for certain types of books - to study and read the book for your entire life and never finish getting every last piece of information from it.

If you're trying to figure out what books to read, utilize the internet!  You can find summaries and sometimes videos on the books you're interested in.  There are countless books out there for you, and when you finish one book it will usually refer you to the next book.

The last thought I will leave you with today is write.  Write notes, write reminders, write a book, or write a comment below!  Use your imagination and grow your ability to communicate!
